About me

I am a freelance writer and journalist. I worked as a daily reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle before transitioning to longer form magazine work.

I’ve written news and opinion pieces for national and international newspapers, magazines and academic journals and won awards for some of the pieces written for the Harvard University Press. I have also ghostwritten books (one in its second printing) and blogged. I spent a year in Egypt reporting on the 2011 Egyptian revolution with my daughter, Georgia Wells, now at the Wall Street Journal. We are currently finishing a book about this experience.
